Chairman - Mike Howerton

Mike is a 1997 Graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a 2004 Graduate of West Virginia University @ Parkersburg, holding a Bachelor's of Applied Technology.  While attending WVU-P, Mike served as Student Body President and Chairman of the WVU-P College Republicans.  After graduation Mike was elected President of the WVU-P Alumni Association, 2004 - 2005.

During the 2004 election cycle Mike worked with the Bush '04 campaign as an employee of the RNC Victory Program in West Virginia.  Mike also work as a Political Analyst for the Minority Office of the West Virginia Senate during  the 2005 Legislative Session.  Before taking on the role of Wood County Young Republican Chairman, Mike served as Vice-Chairman of the Wood County Republican Executive Committee.

Jeremy is a 1989 Graduate of Belpre High School and attended College at West Virginia University @ Parkersburg. 

Jeremy volunteered for multiple grassroots activities on the  Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign and he currently works in the Accounting Department at United Bank were he has been employed for more than 10 years.

 

 

 

Parliamentarian - Greg Smith


Greg graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1976. He joined the Air Force in 1980 and served for 12 years. Greg returned to Parkersburg in 1992 with his wife Sue and their two sons, Jeff and Erik. Greg is also active with the local American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Greg has been a member of the Wood County Republican Executive Committee since 1996. During that period he served as the 2000 Campaign Headquarters Chairman and as the 2004 Wood County Campaign Chairman. Greg also ran for the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1998 and 2000. Most recently Greg served as the Regional Political Representative for the Chris Wakim for Congress campaign, in 2006.

 

 

 

Alumni Advisor - Allen Ross

Allen first joined the YRs in Wood County when he moved his family from New Jersey to Vienna in 1963.  He served as an active member until he reached the age limit of 35, at the time, in 1967.

Allen was a member of the Wood County Republican Executive Committee from 1973 until 1981, when he moved to Chicago.  During that period he served as the Committee's Vice-Chairman and advisor to the YRs. Allen also ran for the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1978.

He moved back to Parkersburg in 1999 and volunteered for several GOP activities and candidates.  Allen, once again, became a member of the Wood County Republican Executive Committee in 2003.  Allen was the 2004 Campaign Headquarters Chairman.  He also served as Secretary, "under the dynamic chairmanship of Rocky Peck," as stated by Allen, and he still holds his seat on the Committee.
