(Secretary) Matt McClay, (Vice Chair) Jennifer Maghan, (Chairman) Mike Howerton, (National Committeeman) Kevin Noe, (Treasurer) April Black, (National Committeewoman) Lisa Peana

The West Virginia Federation of Young Republicans held its Summer Executive Committee Meeting and 2009 Convention in Parkersburg, WV on August 8th.  Mike Howerton of Wood County was elected to a 2-year term as Chairman of the West Virginia Young Republicans. Jennifer Maghan was elected Vice Chairman.  Maghan currently serves as the Jefferson County Clerk.

The YR National Committeeman and committeewoman were also elected.  Kevin Noe returns to his position, while Lisa Peana is newly elected.  They will both represent West Virginia along with chairman Howerton during board meetings of the Young Republican National Federation and at the 2011 YR National Convention in Puerto Rico.  The state YR's also chartered new county organizations in Jackson and Putnam Counties.

“I am glad to see new groups coming onboard.  The main goal during my term of office will be to charter as main local county groups as possible and I will not stop until all 55 counties in West Virginia are chartered,” stated Howerton

Maghan said, “I is excited to be a part of the growing movement towards conservatism in West Virginia.”  She also stated the Young Republicans need to get the message out that “It’s not about politics, it’s about people.”

Special guests at the convention included West Virginia GOP Chairman, Doug McKinney, former Wood County GOP Chairman Rocky Peck and Candidate for Wood County GOP chairman in the upcoming election next summer, Greg Smith. McKinney said, "I congratulate not only the winners, but all that participated.  The youth represent the future and it is good to see that with their involvement the future will be in good hands."
