Mrs. Marjorie Nicely |
Republicanism has a long and chronicled history in Wood County. This is exemplified by Mrs. Nicely; the widow of the beloved Mayor William P.A. Nicely who served as Mayor of Parkersburg for three terms in the 1970's and for five terms in the WV House of Delegates. Mrs. Nicely assisted in all his campaigns and has continued to strongly support and counsel Republicans running for office and encourage Republican activity. She has been a strong supporter of the Young Republicans. Mrs. Nicely and her family helped establish and maintain the "William P.A. Nicely Award for Lifetime Achievement in Public Service." This award is given every other year to an outstanding Republican in Wood County. Therefore for her many years of involvement and leadership in Republican causes we honor her, as an Emeritus Member. |

Another long time supporter of the Republican way here in Wood County, is the hard working, long time Senator of the 3rd Senatorial District, the Honorable Donna Boley. Senator Boley was first appointed to the Senate by Governor Arch Moore in 1985. She was then elected in '88, '92, '96, '00 and '04. She has served as Minority Leader of the Senate. At one time she was the only Republican Senator, which is the only time that has happened in our nation's history. She has been a Delegate to the GOP National Convention four times and has served as the West Virginia GOP National Committeewoman. For her commitment to Republican ideals we are honor her, as an Emeritus Member. |

Wood County has sent many qualified legislators to Charleston over the years and the Honorable Larry Border has represented the 9th District nobly since first being elected in 1990. He was re-elected in '92, '94, '96, '98, '00, '02, '04 and '06. He has risen to the rank of House Minority Whip and has mentored many of the new delegates serving in the House. Along with his charming wife, Anna, the Borders have been very strong supporters of Republican groups and causes, both here in Wood County, and Statewide as well. For his never ending support of Republican causes we recognize the Honorable Larry Border as an Emeritus Member. |

Mr. Leonard Rabatin has deserved recognition here in Wood County for his noteworthy efforts many, many times. He has served both quietly and humbly on many dinners, projects and special events and consistently produced the very best results. Mr. Rabatin has also served as Vice-Chairman for the County Republican Executive Committee, as well as on several local and state campaign efforts. He is active in the Williamstown Lions Club and serves on the board of session for the First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown. For his unwavering dedication to Republican efforts in Wood County, we recognize and honor Mr. Leonard Rabatin as an Emeritus Member. |
